A Wrinkle in Time
Chapter Challenges
Throughout the novel, you will be responsible for completing four challenges. You may pick which four you complete, but you must have read the chapter that the challenge corresponds with before you begin the challenge. The challenges should be turned in stapled all together at the end of the novel.
Challenge #1 (Chapter 1)
What is a hurricane? Write a mini-report (five paragraphs) with a scientific diagram that explains what a hurricane is, how and where it forms, and the damages it can cause.
Challenge #2 (Chapter 2)
Find a quote that “speaks” to you, either from the book or another source. Explain who said it, when they said it, what it means, and why you chose it.
Challenge #3 (Chapter 3)
Draw a picture of one of the characters. Use info from the book to help you add details. Write a short analysis of the character’s traits.
Challenge #4 (Chapter 4)
Create a tableau of one scene from the book. Use watercolor paints to create the scene.
Challenge #5 (Chapter 5)
Make a chart that describes/illustrates each of the five dimensions that are explained in the chapter.
Challenge #6 (Chapter 6)
Create your own planet. Draw a picture of it viewed from space and include information about it, including: description, climate, inhabitants, location, etc.
Challenge #7 (Chapter 7)
Write a friendly four to five paragraph letter from one character to another in the story.
Challenge #8 (Chapter 8)
Compare our world to Camazotz. Find as many similarities and differences as you can throughout the book.
Challenge #9 (Chapter 9)
Create a travel brochure for Camazotz. Be sure to “sell” it as a great place to live. Tri-fold a 9x12 sheet, fill in 5 of the 6 panels.
Challenge #10 (Chapter 10)
Write a short biography (at least five paragraphs) of the author, Madeline L’Engle. Use the internet to help you find information. Include info about her childhood, books she has written, important events in her life, etc.
Challenge #11 (Chapter 11)
Compare and contrast this book with another book you have read. Include as many similarities and differences as you can. Create a powerpoint presentation or prezi to create your presentation.
Challenge #12 (Chapter 12)
Research what a sonnet is using the Internet, then write a sonnet about a character or scene in the book.
